Weir Views Children’s and Community Centre Officially Opens to Support Growing Families
Families in Weir Views and surrounding communities now have access to a modern hub for early childhood education, health services, and community programs, following the official opening of the new Weir Views Children’s and Community Centre.
State Member for Melton Steve McGhie MP joined City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli and local Councillors this week to celebrate the opening of the purpose-built facility, which is designed to support children and families during the critical early years of development.
The new centre brings together a range of essential services under one roof, including kindergarten programs, Maternal and Child Health services, and flexible community spaces that will host local activities and support programs.
The kindergarten component welcomed its first cohort of three- and four-year-old children in Term 1 this year, helping meet growing demand for early childhood education in the rapidly expanding suburb. Families are also already benefiting from Maternal and Child Health services available at the facility, while community spaces are being activated through a variety of local initiatives and programs.
Earlier this year, residents had the opportunity to explore the new centre during a community open day, where they learned more about the services and facilities available.
The $18 million project was delivered by Melton City Council with significant support from the Victorian Government. Funding included $9 million through the Building Blocks Program and an additional $1.5 million from the Growing Suburbs Fund.
Mayor Cr Lara Carli said the centre has been carefully designed to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for local families.
“The Weir Views Children’s and Community Centre has been thoughtfully designed as a place where children can learn, grow and thrive, and where families can come together to build strong local connections,” Cr Carli said.
She added that facilities such as the new centre play an important role in supporting families and strengthening community wellbeing.
“Facilities like this play a vital role in supporting families during those critical early years, helping to lay the foundations for a healthy, connected and resilient community.”
As Melton continues to experience rapid population growth, Council says investment in community infrastructure remains a key priority.
“We thank the Victorian Government for their partnership and investment in this project, and for helping us deliver such a lasting asset for our fast-growing community,” Cr Carli said.
The new Weir Views Children’s and Community Centre is expected to become a valuable local asset, providing families with easier access to education, health, and community services closer to home.
