Wyndham City Highlights Major Community Investments in 2024/25 Annual Report
Wyndham City Council has formally endorsed its 2024/25 Annual Report, showcasing a year of significant investment in infrastructure, community services, and initiatives designed to support one of Australia's fastest-growing municipalities.
During the 2024/25 financial year, Wyndham City delivered $148.2 million in capital works, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing liveability and meeting the needs of its expanding population.
Key investments included:
- $68.3 million allocated to recreational, leisure and community facilities;
- $29 million invested in road infrastructure;
- $14.9 million dedicated to parks, open spaces and streetscape improvements; and
- $5 million spent on new footpaths and cycleways.
Among the year's standout achievements was the opening of the $12.6 million Lollypop Creek Community Centre in Werribee. The new facility provides three and four-year-old kindergarten services, maternal and child health support, and flexible community spaces for local families.
Council also completed the first stage of the Jamieson Way Community Centre and Reserve expansion in Point Cook. The upgrade delivered an expanded kindergarten outdoor play area, additional maternal and child health consulting rooms, and new multipurpose meeting spaces to better serve the growing community.
Other notable projects completed throughout the year included health club upgrades at AquaPulse and Eagle Stadium, the creation of three new off-leash dog parks, tennis court redevelopments at Wootten Road Reserve and Galvin Park, and improvements to several open spaces, including The Strand Park, Cambridge Crescent Park and Pierbrook Avenue Park.
Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Mia Shaw, said the Annual Report reflects Council's ongoing commitment to delivering quality infrastructure and services that enhance residents' everyday lives.
"Each year Council delivers a range of diverse services that support the wellbeing, infrastructure and vitality of the local community, alongside millions of dollars in capital works designed to continue making Wyndham a great place to live. Nothing captures the breadth of what we do better than our Annual Report," Cr Shaw said.
Wyndham's population reached 337,009 residents in 2024, with the municipality experiencing approximately 4 per cent growth over the past two years, equating to an additional 12,000 residents.
Mayor Shaw acknowledged that rapid population growth, combined with cost-of-living pressures and reduced state and federal funding, continues to create challenges for councils operating in growth areas.
Despite these pressures, Wyndham City continued to deliver essential services at scale. During 2024/25, Council:
- Conducted more than 31,000 Key Ages and Stages Maternal and Child Health visits;
- Delivered 968 youth programs, attracting over 30,000 participants;
- Facilitated 117 community centre programs attended by 3,551 people;
- Recorded 2.3 million visits to major leisure facilities;
- Welcomed more than 1.1 million library visits, with 1.8 million library loans made;
- Hosted major events attended by over 180,000 people;
- Delivered 261 arts and culture programs involving 51,879 participants; and
- Conducted 35 citizenship ceremonies, conferring citizenship on 6,423 new Australians.
Council also maintained its focus on environmental sustainability and neighbourhood amenity. Throughout the year, Wyndham City collected more than 7,911 tonnes of litter and illegally dumped waste, serviced 5.5 million household garbage bins, completed over 67,000 hard waste collections, planted more than 32,000 trees, maintained over 250,000 trees, and responded to 778 graffiti requests.
The 2024/25 Annual Report highlights Wyndham City's continued efforts to balance rapid growth with the delivery of quality infrastructure, essential services and community programs—ensuring Wyndham remains a vibrant, connected and desirable place to live.
